Even though they tried several times, the train driver could not start the engine. After that, someone told the driver that the sadhu should be allowed back on the train. Residents had to walk a long way to get to the nearest station, so Baba Neem Karoli agreed to get on the train as long as two things were guaranteed: first, the railway company would build a station at Neem Karoli, and second, the railway department would treat sadhus better.

After the authorities agreed to his terms, Neeb Karoli Baba joked, “What is it up to me to start trains?” The train started immediately after he got on, which was a surprise. After Baba’s approval, the train left. Later, a train stop was built in the village of Neem Karoli. The people in the area then loved and respected him and called him Neem Karoli Baba.
